Youth Program

Beyond The Hurt has partnered with Guadalupe Teen Court.

Guadalupe Teen Court is a community-based diversion program operated under the Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department. The Juvenile probation department refers first time offenders (17 and under) who have committed misdemeanors or status offenses to us. These cases are self-lead by a dedicated group of youth volunteers.

Volunteers receive training to serve in various courtroom roles for diversion cases. Each volunteer is assigned a specific role, such as judge/foreperson, attorney, bailiff, victim's advocate, or jury member. Once assigned a role, teen volunteers have the opportunity to hear the details of the juvenile's case, ask follow-up questions, deliberate as a group, and collaboratively determine appropriate consequences for the juvenile defendant. Throughout the process, we encourage our volunteers to maintain professionalism, foster teamwork, and actively participate in discussions.

Excellent opportunity for your youth to:
Learn the judicial system.
Civically engage
Possibly detour from any criminal behaviors
Witness the consequences of teen crimes
*Real court proceedings with real consequences
